I Shall Name Him Squishy... Err, Sparkly

So, I may have seen "Finding Nemo" a few too many times. But as you can observe from the title, I have fish!

Admittedly I also have two cats (hand raised from 3 weeks 'cause their mum was skittled) who are 6yrs old, a dog who is now.... oh wow, 12 years old, a rabbit we've had for nearly a year and two parakeets we've had for less than two months.

But I like tropical fish. We used to have a 6 foot tank, length not height. It held - maximum number we reached only once - 264 guppies, 25 neon tetras, 6 sharks (which aren't full of teeth but are amazingly cute), 12 catfish and 31 snails. Oh and 5 painted angelfish! Now though we have a small hexagonal tank that's about a metre tall. We just bought guppies, mollies and neon tetras - because neons are my favourite, I love the bright blue flash - yesterday. This morning though, we went and bought two sharks, one of which is an albino. Usually sharks are black with red or yellow fins, but this one is white bodied with pale yellow fins. And my new favourite whom I have named squishy (hence the title) is a catfish. Now most catfish are long, dull grey/brown and quite thin. This one is black with white spots!!!! He's kinda fat too and only about as long as the guppies, he looks a bit like a night-sky. *bounces*

So yes, I now have a menagerie of all bar two animals that I actually want. I can't have a Chinchilla because of the cats and I can't have a snake because mum hates them. Dad and I promised to keep it int he shed but she refuses. I also really want a ferret ala "Beastmaster", Kodo and Podo are so adorable.

BookFair pt2

I like book faires. I got two full gren shoping bags ful of fantasy and sci-fi books for less than $60. I got more than forty all up XD

I also went tourist shopping and spent nearly $100 on a tea set, I"ll try to add the picture when I get home, currently I'm at a friends. The teapot itself is about two-thirds the size of a dinner plate wide but only about 6cm tall. Its white with branches of a sakura tree in full bloom on it and a small kanji poem (I'm guessing its a poem anyway) in black on it. It's sooooooo pretty, and came with three cups, but five bowls - tell me the logic in that one.

Anyway it was awesome to get all the books - I got a cop of Faust but I'm not sure who wrote that particular version, there are apparently a lot of them. Badly set out, though, all the books were just set out everywhere. No set out at all, romance next to life-style next to sci-fi next to comedy next to fantasy. Rinse, mix and repeat for twenty trestle tables.

The host for the weekend was a friend of Father's, a very nice man, if a little neurotic. HE has a chocolate lab x kelpie that is fully as strange as he is and adopted me - even to the point of snapping at Father when he made an expansive gesture that apparently came to close to hitting me. His eight-week old kitten decided I was the newest style of jungle gym and spent the weekend alternately climbing/attacking/cuddling me and attacking a piece of wool Mummy crocheted for her.

All in all, a very productive fun weekend. I have until Friday off from wok, so I"m thinking that I'll stay here for a few days then head home.
