Day 16

day 16 - your views on mainstream music.
Oh this is easy.

Mainstream music for the most part is bouncy, continuous and self-serving. I'm sorry, I like a couple of boy bands, a few single girls and boys and in general don't listen to music in English.

I like music. It's soothing, uplifting, amusing and a vital part of my day. I spend a LOT of time on my iPod. But 60% of the music on my iPod is not mainstream English. 40% is either in Japanese, Korean, French or Turkish (possibly Hungarian I still can't remember where Tarkan is from), or its Disney (yes I have the soundtrack for nearly every Disney movie made and a few animated ones not by Disney). The other 20% is classical - Brahm, Tchaikovsky, Mozart and Saint-Saens. Oh and Liszt, can't forget the Mephisto Waltz.

The next 35% is covered by my Emotard list which is all Nightwish, HIM, Linkin Park and XXX plus any music from 1942 (Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy From Company B - Andrew Sisters) to 1999 (All Star -Smash Mouth). That set of music covers country, rock and blues.

The last 5% is music from 2000 onward, which is what I'm considering Mainstream. It's got Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, ColdPlay, The Script and various others. Mostly I just find it too same-y. It's all pretty notes and ME ME ME ME.... Yeah, I can't explain it, I just don't find it all that interesting.
