Day 17

day 17 - your highs and lows of this past year.

Hn, if you take year as the last 12 months then I guess the low would have to be loosing Penny. She wasn't a particularly close friend, but she was a friend from a very special chapter in my life. We went to Uni together for the last four years, doing our Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing. She'd just finished it and was graduating when she had a stroke. She never made graduation but there was a small memorial. She was a great writer, lots of funny, special, short stories and a wonderful sense of humour. I'll miss her.

Highs, there have been a few of them actually. I started my Bachelor of Arts, something that in 2004 (last year of high school) I was certain I'd never even want to do. I'm doing Religious Studies - basically its comparative religion - and Literature and History as my majors. Pure accident actually, you need 24 units to make a BA and a major is 8 units. I just happen to be doing all the units for all of the subjects.

Another high would be getting a Credit Card. Not so I can go insane with it, but just the sense of freedom and responsibilty of it. I paid for the very very necessary car updates and I'll be buying tickets to USA next year.

Best high of all though was being Bridesmaid for my best friend. I was the first she asked and the one who got to keep her high till it happened as her Maid of Honour was in LA, and her two other bridesmaids were getting married too! We had such pretty dresses, though they were strapless, so I'll be altering mine into a halter neck. They were forest green satin with sparkles and hit the floor, made dancing in them a bit hard even in heels. I don't usually like dresses but its the perfect opera dress and I don't even have to "cut it down!" sorry, it's the standard comment for a long dress, and I've just watched 27-dresses.
